Sticky Sweet-Chilli Sesame Chicken

Our internet has been spotty recently so instead of searching for recipes online I have turned to our trusty collection of cookbooks. My mum doesn’t really like cooking, but she has a pretty decent collection of cookbooks. This recipe is from Jamie’s 15 Minute Meals cookbook, so it’ll be a relatively short post.

I served this chicken with salad so I made up my salad before I started cooking the chicken. I made a green salad, which in my household means you raid the fridge for every green thing you can find. My salad ended up containing: beetroot greens, bok choy, two types of lettuce, carrot, capsicum, banana peppers, and alfalfa sprouts.

Toss your chicken thighs in the salt, pepper, and Chinese Five Spice. I did this by chucking them all in a large-ish Tupperware container, putting the lid on and shaking it around like crazy until the chicken seemed thoroughly coated.

When the chicken is thoroughly coated, heat up some oil in a frying pan and chuck the chicken in. Try not to turn the chicken to much as you cook it, because you want it to blacken a little bit.

Drain the excess fat out of the frypan and drizzle the sweet chilli sauce over the chicken. Toss it in the sauce until it’s completely covered. Then add in the sesame seeds and toss the chicken until coated in a nice mixture of the seeds and the sauce.

Now just serve it up with a big helping of salad.
